Road to CA 2010

I was able to get a quick moment with Verna Mosquera owner of The Vintage Spool. She is showing me her new line of wonderful fabric. I love the way she displayed them in photo frames.

I met two of the most darling young woman at Road. Meet Judy and Kellee. They were working in Susan Branch's booth. They would have made their mothers proud. I so enjoyed talking to them. Susan's' booth looked beautiful!

New Pattern...what is it?

This is a small quilt that could hang on the wall. I hope to have it ready for full view within a few weeks.

Cheryl Ann's School Days

This quilt is dedicated to my sister, Cheryl Ann. She has spent her lifetime carreer teaching students. Presently she is the Principal of East Hampton High School. I love red and she may not know this but so does she. ;>)

This is another new pattern. I just love red and green together. These are cherries.

Santa's Lantern

This is from one of the blocks from my Winter Memories - Christmas quilt. Most of the blocks have multiple memories from either my childhood, adulthood, wife, mother or grandmother. I spent years making decisions on just the right memories I wanted to capture. I think I have succeeded. The pattern should be out in about a month. Still working on the web page in the mean time.

Christmas Time

I love this time of year. I reflect on family members who are no longer with us and those who are. We have three family members who are ill and way to young to be dealing with their illness. Please keep them in your prayers.

We didn't put up our large tree this year as we donated it to Goodwill with decorations and lights. Through the years I have collected smaller one's and placed them around the house. The one above is one of my favorites. I will change the lights next year to white ones. The Santa and snow man have so much spirit in their faces that I smile every time I look at them.

The photo with the soldier was made out of our sons Army blanket. He also served as a Marine. The soldier reminds us of why we enjoy our days and the freedom to pray. Please keep our military men and woman in your thoughts and prayers. Merry Christmas to All.

I Just returned from East Hampton High School, Long Island NY. We spent 10 hours with about 100 students, staff and parents making quilts for our military men and woman who have been deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. This is the fifth time doing this project and each one has been successful. We completed about 30 tops with this trip and bound 7 from our April visit. We gave a completed quilt to Sergeant Eloy I. Castano, United Stated Army. Sergeant Castano has been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. A special thank you to Dr. Edholm for introducing this worth while program to her students. Another big thank you to AccuQuilt for donating an AccuQuilt cutter so we didn't have to hand cut all this fabric.

Newest Project

Morgan and Molly are feeling left out so I included them in this posting. I must admit that pink and green are my favorite colors but sometimes dark red and olive green just seam to take over my designs. Below is a sample of the our newest design using red and cream. I found an excellent way to use one of the Cosmo threads that Baileys mom, littleacorns, gave me. I love this thread. I am also designing using red and olive. Still on the design board but the fabric has been chosen.

One of the sisters cut the tip of her finger off. A reminder of how sharp these really are. The Doctor was unable to reattach it.

Oh....also remember to clean your rotary cutter. Excuse the lint.

I just love MODA!

A project for Candee and Andee. They are piecing and I am doing the applique. Humm....I wonder if they are doing the same project. I am using the same applique pattern. Anyone want to guess what it is. I love red & green, and pink & green. So these are not my colors. That's what's so much fun about working with your sisters on projects.

Just Duckie and Pink Chick

I am writing directions until I think I have lost my mind. So I got Just Duckie and Pink Chick out to show you what I am working on for Fall Market 2010. I know it is a long way away but it has lots and lots and did I say lots of pieces. Now that I say it...it may have to many......hum. Remembering why we enjoy our day.

Meet Grace..... my quilting Angel

Grace usually hangs out on the back porch and visits with quilting friends. But I am not sure they even know she is there. I took her out from her hiding place to show her to you. I think I will take her indoors to my sewing room so she can spend some time with me. She will enjoy seeing what is in the Sisters' Quilting Trunk. I just love her green color. Hopefully a hint of what is in the trunk in a few more days.

The oak trees are filling up with acorns and lots of them. I bet you didn't think that Arizona had oak trees. We do in the high country. It's even cooler up here. Hum....maybe an idea for a new quilt?

Today is day one of my blog. This past Wednesday I had lunch with Miss Rosies mother, Carrie, and Baileys mother, Bren. Look what I came home with. A book on blogging and lots of wonderful thread by Cosmo. As you can tell the book came in handy immediately and I am working on a project for the thread. How blessed I am to have wonderful friends!

What they didn't know until lunch was that three of my sisters and I have started a quilt pattern company. We are "Sisters' Quilting Trunk". More updates to follow.
